A Solo Day in the city with Basquiat…

Spoiler Alert!… Thinking about coming to NYC? Make sure when you do visit the city you visit the Jean-Michel Basquiat: King Pleasure exhibition! I think this is something everyone should experience especially if you are an art lover or a lover of the culture in general.

This was a more personal look into Basquiat’s life with being presented by his family specifically his two sisters. With installments making you feel like you were in his childhood home or in the infamous Studio 54. While I was there I met a gentleman who said he actually worked at Studio 54 at that time in the 80’s and it looked exactly like it at that time. Talk about nostalgia right? lol

I won’t give too much away but I did vlog the experience on my Youtube channel if you want to feel like you were there or a preview of what to expect. I will say it was interesting to see the things that went on in the world that inspired his work particularly police brutality and the abuse of the disenfranchised communities. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Moving on to my look of the day! I wore my favorite hat by Ruslan Baginsky, an amazing dress by Nasty gal that transcends the seasons! I got so many compliments on it. Banana Republic Trousers and patent leather boots by Zara that had a slight chunky heel and my Chanel pouch that I am so in love with that tied the entire look together. The full look is on my Instagram. Definitely dress comfortable but chic. Are you looking forward to visiting the exhibition?
