How to Shop for Sunglasses with a Round Face…

Shopping for sunglasses is a very personal task and if you have a rounder face it can be even more difficult. I go into depth here on my YouTube channel if you want to take a glimpse at my sunglasses collection! Waaaay back in the day I used to work at Nordstrom in the Designer Accessories department and in that department my specialty was Designer sunglasses. I sold the best of Chanel, Tom Ford, Gucci, etc.

I came into contact with various face shapes but the most common face shape that stated that they had the most difficult time finding the perfect frames were the customers with the rounder face shapes. I took my time when fitting that face shape because I also have that face shape. My number one tip would be to stick to an oversized frame for example, a larger aviator or a oversized square frame like in the picture above. You may be able to get away with a mid sized frame but stay away from smaller frames. In my expert opinion, the smaller frames will make your face look larger than what it really is unless that’s the look you’re going for then have at it.

Now my second tip would be utilize the services that some department stores provide if you are shopping for your frames in person. A frame heater is what I would use if a frame would look great on my customers faces but maybe the temples were too tight or too loose. This machine will heat up the acetate (the plastic the frames are made out of) and can be shaped to fit your face. If the stores do not have this machine, try your optometrists office. They tend to provide that service. If you’re trying on metal frames, adjust the nose pads so they don’t rest on your cheekbones. Don’t give up on buying that great pair of sunglasses. It’s just going to take some patience. Hopefully this information will make shopping a little easier!
