How to Date Yourself as an Introvert…

I am the type of person who a year ago, you could not get me to go anywhere alone. On the contrary I am a major introvert and loner. I know, a complete oxymoron. I see that people go on whole vacations ALONE! I’m not quite there yet but I have been going out alone more often. I never understood why people would go out to eat alone but getting comfortable with being alone is a game changer. Try to do it without the goal of finding a date too. lol If it happens great but the goal should be for self. For those that are trying to step out on faith, this is what I did to get comfortable.

Start somewhere small. Try to find a local café where it may not be a plethora of people but still welcoming. A lot of people are working remote so you will find other people who are alone also. If you’re shy like me it will make the solo date more comfortable. I recommend going during the week if you can or earlier in the day on a weekend. The weekend is when more groups of people are out and at night everyone is on a date so if you’re worried about feeling awkward, avoid solo dating at night. lol. If you don’t care then have at it but as a beginner solo dater you more than likely care.

SELF LOVE IS THE BEST LOVE

Try finding a cute rooftop in your city with a bar and the vibes. I would suggest a happy hour possibly during the week. No lit brunches or lounges. (Are the kids still saying lit?) At least not in the beginning. This is a great practice if you are in a relationship as well because it’s great to have your own interests. I believe you should dress well and put on a nice perfume that makes you feel confident. That is what I would do if I made it to the happy hour stage in my solo dating. lol Utilize Instagram, Google, and Yelp to preplan your outings so you know what to expect.

The end goal in all of this is to build self esteem and self confidence. My friend is a huge advocate for solo dating. She has a whole family but makes the time for self because that is the last thing you want to lose. Learn to honor your needs because after all you cannot pour from a empty cup.

Moving on to my look of the day! I’m wearing a t-shirt that was a collaboration between Christopher John Rogers and the MET. No longer available. Vintage Levi Jeans and these very old Steve Madden Sandals. I love a pink and red combo. Finally my sunglasses are from Elisa Johnson.
