Solitude…

This may be somewhat of a personal diary for me but hopefully others can relate. Have you ever felt like you’re being called to be in solitude and the more you resist it the harder life gets? Well that’s what I feel is going on in my life right now. I can feel it in my gut when I’m alone that I made the right decision and I need to stay in that space. Saying “no” to social outings sometimes is great but a yes here and there is okay because one of my goals this year is to network and meet new people BUT as long as it’s in alignment with what I’m being called to do.

Being in nature and by the water is a great way to center yourself and just think. My problem is turning off my phone and being present with my mind, but baby steps. In a world where perfection is the standard, I’d like to think that being with yourself in solitude you’ll have no choice but to get to know the real you. I pride myself on not caring one way or another but imposter syndrome is definitely something I’ve been battling with lately and I realize maybe I do care and I don’t like that. There’s only one me and when I’m with myself I remember who I am

Here are a few practices that I’ve taken up the more I’m in solitude that have helped me:

  • Meditation | I found that meditation is not one size fits all. I personally do my best meditation in the shower. The sounds of water calm me and I find my mind can focus more efficiently. There I do my best to focus on gratitude and think about the goals that I WILL manifest. Maybe you can find a quiet space in your home and do your thing.

  • Journaling | I am not a person that journals everyday although that is the goal. I currently journal when I am called to write down my feelings before I explode. Whether good or bad. Sometimes in my physical planner in the note section of every month I’ll write down something I’m grateful for or a goal that I accomplished.

  • Cleaning | I personally cannot think straight in a untidy home. I find that if you’re surrounded by clutter cleaning up your space will help clear your mind to focus on other things. This I can guarantee you will help. Start with making a list of each room in your home and tackle them one by one. It won’t feel so impossible when you break it down that way.

  • Prayer | Giving thanks and having faith will always help to keep you going. Backing it up with the work of course. I do my best to always honor my ancestors and thank them for watching over me.

Hopefully if you’re being called to be in solitude and you also feel the need to be “outside” for summer 22, I urge you to listen to yourself. You never know what may come out on the other side.

I write this as I’m on the beach so I might as well tell you guys what I’m wearing. Hat and bikini is from H&M. Sunglasses are thrifted and you can find them and others in my sunglasses collection on my YouTube channel.
